Catholic schools are expected to rally against a proposal to restrict their hiring and firing powers in a reform aimed at protecting LGBTIQ+ students and teachers.

On Tuesday, the Australian Law Reform Commission released a consultation paper proposing to remove existing exemptions to the Sex Discrimination Act that enable discrimination, which Catholic schools have warned would undermine their ethos.
