David Sharaz says he will not fight defamation proceedings brought against him by the Liberal senator Linda Reynolds but has asked the former defence minister to settle litigation against his fiance, Brittany Higgins, rather than proceed with another trial.
Sharaz, in a statement on Tuesday, said it was “time to move on” and suggested Higgins and Reynolds “agree to disagree” over their long-running dispute. Just hours after it was reported that Higgins and Sharaz would ask the Western Australian supreme court to delay their June hearing, Sharaz said he would no longer contest the case.
